Description
Hello all,
I figured I would bring my forum topic down here to the ticketing system, as something is obviously afoot. Either that, or I do not understand the way in which FreeNAS is supposed to work. I refer you to the following forum thread:
The basic gist: I have three 1.5TB drives set up in a RAIDZ1 vdev called "User_Data". Per my understanding of how ZFS works, I should have roughly 3TB reported as available, disk formatting notwithstanding. This vdev contains several datasets, only one of which has any kind of quota or reservation set on it (the "Backup" dataset). The parent vdev only reports 1.5TB of total available storage, yet the children report 1.6TB or 1.7TB available.
How can the children have more space available than the parent, and how come the parent is not reporting correctly to begin with?
The general consensus in the forum thread is that the data is actually safe and sound, but that the FreeNAS GUI is not reporting it properly. There are screen shots and pool status checks available in the forum. I will be glad to run any additional commands and dump their output here if necessary.
I do not know how to classify this. I'll start with "minor" because it appears to be a reporting bug, not a "OMG my data is missing?!?!?!" type of thing.

Duplicate of ticket 703.
This is a well known caveat that I'm going to add to the Known Issues page under doc.freenas.org because a lot of people seem to be hitting this.
