Running 8.2 beta 2 and I've noticed that events that should be logged to /var/log/messages aren't. I've tried restarting services (CIFS,AD) viewing storage (View Volumes) & logging in via ssh and have not seen anything show up in the console footer or in a proper ""tail -f /var/log/messages"". The only things logged since the April 1 are 3 entries at 5:00AM telling me that syslog can't ""assign requested address"" (see ticket #1433). 

If I remove the remote syslog server entry under ""Settings"" & save I can see that logging is somehow ""revived"" and events are once again being logged.

I've seen this behavior in prior releases.
